Hello, and welcome to the very first styling blog post of many. I am thrilled to start this journey with you all, where we can dive into the depths of fashion, offer wisdom, trend insights, and, most importantly empower you to develop your own unique wardrobe.
Today, let's talk about personal style and how to uncover the secrets to crafting a look that's unapologetically you!
Personal style is way more than following the latest trends it's a deep form of self-expression. Picture this you walk into a room, and before you even utter a word, your outfit already started the conversation. Whether you realize it or not, your clothing sends out signals about your personality, values, and how you want the world to perceive you.
So, back to our question how do you develop your personal style? Lets break it down into five easy tips to keep you in line with the most fashionable version of yourself.
1. Expressing Values and Beliefs: Beyond aesthetics, your clothing should also convey your values and beliefs. I suggest finding elements you are passionate about. Is it sustainability? Then you might want to opt for eco-friendly fabrics and support ethical fashion brands. Are you someone who likes to stand out? Your wardrobe could be a colorful mixture of eclectic pieces that brighten up any room. Every garment you choose to wear should be a statement, aligning with the causes and principles you feel most connected to.
2. Have a uniform: This might be the biggest life hack to always looking effortlessly put together. The goal here is to find something simple that you can always count on if your in a rush, not in the mood, or just don’t have the energy that day. One way you can find your “ uniform” is by thinking about what pieces and cuts you already have in your closet that flatter you most and buying this in multiple different colors and textures. If you are curvy maybe you can opt for a multitude of form fitting dresses and hip hugging denims. Another way to create your uniform is by thinking about what your day-to-day life looks like. Is it leaning more towards corporate, fitness , or cool and casual? Having a few go to pieces that never fail to make you feel confident and look fantastic should be the base of your "uniform."
3. Take your time and when in doubt put it back: Creating your personal style is a journey, not a race. Don’t fall victim to making impulsive decisions by rushing through the process. Don't be distracted by sales or buying something you are doubtful of just because its at a discounted rate. Take the time to learn your figure, learn what you’re comfortable and confident in before investing on an extensive shopping spree. Most importantly resist the urge to simply replicate outfits you see on others without considering how they align with your individuality. Only buy it if your feel your absolute best in it.
4. Evolve : Allow yourself to evolve and adapt over time. As you grow and change, so will your style preferences. Embrace the journey of self discovery and enjoy the process of defining or redefining your aesthetic. You have no limit and there is no destination so switch it up! get comfortable with experimenting with different styles as you grow, because you never know what you might discover.
5. You own the clothes, the clothes don’t own you : If that section title wasn’t clear I am talking about CONFIDENCE!!!! The most crucial aspect of personal style is confidence. Wear what makes you feel good, regardless of whether it's considered "fashionable" by others or not. True style is about authenticity and self-valedation. When you feel comfortable and empowered in your clothing I promise you it will radiate outward. Confidence is magnetic, and there's nothing more stylish than owning who you are. You are always going to look best in what you feel the most confident in.
In conclusion developing your personal style is a deeply personal and empowering experience. It's all about celebrating your individuality and expressing it through clothing.
Remember, fashion fades, but style is eternal.
